All items below are for pick up on Valentine’s Day. We will be open from 8am until 4pm. The cost is 28.00 per person.
Once again, our friends at the Colorado Wine Company have provided suggestions for pairings with each of the
dishes we're offering.
Starter
Cream of Asparagus Soup
Asparagus wine pairings usually scare people off because it is kinda tough. Whites work better though reds can be suitable. You
need enough acid to handle the asparagus and enough body to handle the cream so we recommend the Moncaro Ca’Ruptae Verdicchio
from Italy for @ $11.99/btl. If you can’t live without your red wine, we would pair a light Cabernet Franc like our Cave de Saumur
from the Loire for $11.99/btl.
Main Course
Lamb Shepherd’s Pie with Creamed Bloomsdale Spinach
One of our favorite reds for lamb is the Alary Cairanne Cotes du Rhone for $19.99/btl. This is primarily grenache with some syrah to give the dark
fruit a black pepper touch that will pair beautifully with the Sheppard’s Pie. But we would be remiss not to suggest a nutty brown Belgian
Ale with this course which would be amazing. Try the Brasserie Dupont Moinette Brune Ale for $10.99/btl.
Braised Lamb Shank pulled off the bone, topped with Creamed Spinach and
Mashed Potatoes from Weiser Farms
For the more stewed, gamey lamb flavors in this dish we’d try the Gardies Mas Las Cabes Languedoc Rouge for $14.99/btl or a
rustic sangiovese like this new odd Tuscan blend from Icario for $19.99 (70% sangiovese/20% teroldego/10% merlot).
OR
Roasted Vegetable Shepherd’s Pie
First thoughts are usually the best pairings and Spanish grenache came to mind for this one. Try our Coto de Hays Garnacha Centennaria
for $14.99/btl which has a medium-body which won’t cover up the veggies, but big enough blackberry and white pepper flavors to add
complexity to the pairing. Or for white, try an Italian pinot bianco like our Vignalta Agno Casto Pinot Bianco for $19.99/btl.
Roasted Baby Root Vegetables from McGrath Farms, topped with Sautéed
Wild Mushrooms and Mashed Potatoes from Weiser Farms
Definitely a pinot noir or cru Beaujolais for this one. For pinot we recommend the Cazar Russian River Pinot Noir @ $18.99/btl which
has a gorgeous mushroomy/cherry/rosemary thing going on all on its lonesome. If you want to go a little lighter and a little less spicy,
try the Pierre Chermette Cru Beaujolais for $16.99/btl. White would work too….try the Terre Rouge Enigma from the Sierra Foothills –
this is a blend of Marsanne/Viognier/Roussanne and its creamy texture and floral notes would be pretty damned lovely with root veggies.
Dessert
Heart Shaped Chocolate Ganache Cake for Two
Definitely our HM Borges Old Reserve Malmsey 10 year Madeira for $35.99/btl. It’s a big bottle (750ml), but the sugar will preserve
it on your counter and more than likely, you’ll drink it all with this cake. Another idea would be our Chateau du Jau Muscat de
Rivesaltes for $24.99/btl (500ml) – the citrus and custard flavors would be a great opposite paring to the chocolate.
Heart Shaped Red Velvet Cake (serves approx. 4 people:
Auntie Em’s classic
Red Velvet cake in a fun heart shape $15.95
Chocolate Cherry Cupcake: Auntie Em’s Chocolate Cupcake with Tart Cherries, topped
with Cherry Cream Cheese Frosting $3.50
